Welcome springtime with like minded people at the center of creativity in Berlin! Come join an experimental SMENA in Berlin for the opportunity to create a film, a photo series, a documentary or a multimedia project. We invite participating directors, cameramen, photographers, screenwriters, and graphic designers who want to realize their ideas.

Easy to reach any places in Berlin
140 m² loftspace for 12 participants. Located 25 minutes to the city center and has a view of the river, a kitchen with 2 large dining tables, a sleeping place for each participant, a cozy space for creative work and of course WiFi. The feature of the loft is that it is located in the same building as the Berliner Kunst Atelier where musicians and artists of Berlin often gather.
    Our programme
    We will explore the city together, share our everyday life and experience in filmmaking, videography and photography.
    You have the opportunity to create a visual project and present it on the last day.
    We don't want to limit you in genres, but we can suggest the following options:

    Smena is a non-profit project. Our main mission is to create a community for professionals who work remotely.
    Our typical schedule

    08:30 - wake up
    09:30 - breakfast
    10:30 - meet and plan the day
    12:00 - 18:00 - work on your project
    18:00 - discussion and recap of the day
    19:30 - dinner
    20:30 - master class from a member or invited guest
    23:00 - lights out

    We will be glad to accept you if
    - you are engaged in visual creativity
    - you share the values of the community
    - you want to implement your project and/or hold a workshop / lecture
    - commit to staying and working with Smena for the whole period
    - you are over 18 years old and can apply for a visa, insurance and buy tickets

    Our team
    Masha Kosobokova
    Documentary filmmaker, photographer
    She studied at the Moscow School of New Cinema (Oleg Lukichev's camera course), at the department of documentary filmmaking at Summer School (curated by Daria Khrenova, Vlad Ketkovich), at the Dokdokdok documentary photography school. Maria is an author of the documentary films "I've believed and I believe", Maison d'être, special project "Russians in Paris". From 2012 to 2015 she lived in Paris, graduated from the High School of Communications at the Sorbonne.
    She is also one of the authors of the film about #smenamontenegro


    Anastasia Shikina
    Documentary filmmaker, producer
    She graduated from the faculty of the screen arts at St. Petersburg University of Film and Television and the specialty Media in Finland. Participant of department of documentary filmmaking at Summer School 2013-2014, awarded by international festival of young filmmakers Cinemadamare 2015-2016.
    Anastasia works as a producer for documentaries and media projects.

    Do I need to come up with a project in advance?
    It's better to create your idea before the trip, you will have more chances of implementing a cool project. It is best to find characters in advance.


    Is it possible to go and at the same time engage in personal work?
    Yes, but it should not be your main activity, otherwise there will be no time for the project in Berlin.


    Can I join the project of others?
    Yes, you can join the project of others and help them.
